“So long as there are veterans…”

Elks pledge "So long as there are veterans, the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks will never forget them." The Elks National Veterans Service Commission takes that pledge one step further and promises service to our nation's veterans and military members, with a special focus on service to those in need.

Our Programs

The WSEA Veterans Committee is tasked with promoting the Grand Lodge Elks National Veterans Service Commission programs and assisting our veterans. Some of these programs include:

  • Welcome Home Kits for veterans exiting homelessness and moving into new homes. Most veterans move into their homes with nothing. Elks can help veterans establish their homes by building Welcome Home Kits. Generally, this kit would include some small furniture, kitchenware, and cleaning supplies. Washington is currently #1 in the Nation for distribution of Welcome Home Kits!
  • Veteran Emergency Relief Assistance (VERA) Grants: Financial relief grants are provided to Service Member or Veterans in need of assistance in WA State. These are not loans; these are one-time grants provided to those who are in need.
  • Lodge Grants: there are several grants available to our lodges who want to give to their local veterans in need. Projects include hosting meals, hosting a stand down, providing food pantry items. The committee is here to help lodges receive these grants.
  • Holiday Meals: each year, our lodges provide hundreds of holiday meals for veterans and service members across the state and give out backpacks full of school supplies to hundreds of military families.
