Elks therapy continues despite “stay at home directive”
In typical Elks therapist fashion, we have adapted to our current situation with creativity! Although home therapy is not possible at this time, the entire staff of the WA Elks Therapy Program has continued to provide Therapy service and support to “OUR KIDS.” Many of our kiddos continue weekly therapy sessions with their therapists through live video therapy, allowing the therapist to continue to work with families on home programs and activities.
In addition, the therapists are working hard to provide families with resources, activity pages, websites, and written directions to support families. Many of us have been mailing packets to families, and even doing “porch drops” of materials and equipment. We are all learning to incorporate texting, videos, video-meetings, email, mail, and phone calls to deliver the quality and compassionate services that the Elks Therapy program is known for.
There is a learning curve for all of us, adjusting to providing “Teletherapy”—learning how to use new technology and programs, share video content, and support our clients in whatever manner helps them the most during this stressful time.
We are all eager for the day we can get back into “Our Kids” home but are happy to be able to continue to provide ongoing services!
